Curry County New Mexico and the City of Clovis are currently looking for a representative and an alternate to serve on the Non-Metro Area Agency on Aging Board for Curry County. Non-Metro

ADVISORY COUNCIL

Purpose of the Council
Provide information, guidance, advice, and support to the Area Agency on Aging to plan, develop, coordinate and administer services to older individuals in the Planning & Service Areas
(PSA's).

The Non-Metro AAA advises applicants have the ability to function as a group member, think objectively, demonstrate leadership qualities, be committed to representing the interests of
older individuals, be willing to devote time to Council activities, and commit to the purpose of the Area Agency.

The Roles & Responsibilities of the Non-Metro AAA membership include:

• Advising on the administration, planning, development and implementation of programs for the elderly (Area Plan);
• Assist in conducting public hearings, including testifying or making presentations at local and state legislative hearings or meetings;
• Represent the interests of older individuals (advocacy);
• Review and comment on policies, programs and actions, which affect older individuals;
• Review and comment on proposals submitted for funding;
• Assist in developing strategies to reach the isolated elderly;
• Assist in identifying gaps in services or deficiencies in the service system;
• Assist in monitoring and evaluating service providers and service delivery, as requested or necessary.
• Assist in identifying the needs of the elderly and help in finding the resources available for meeting these needs and to determine priorities;
• Establish working relationships with organizations/agencies in the area for coordinating and pooling resources.
