Juvenile Detention Center
As a result of declining Statewide and Curry County Juvenile Arrests, as well as both a Juvenile Detention trend and a fiscal concern, Curry County Commissioners voted in April of 2020 to close the Juvenile Detention Center. As a result, all Curry County Juvenile Detainees are housed in approved and certified contracted Juvenile Detention Centers outside of Curry County.
Once a Curry County Juvenile is detained and arrested, local law enforcement will transport the juvenile detainee to the nearest contracted juvenile detention center until a juvenile is arraigned in Curry County District Court and recommended for release.
