Curry County Hosts County Manager for A Day Program for High School Students
In celebration of National County Government Month, Curry County will once again host County Manager for a Day program. Established by the National Association of Counties, National County Government Month is observed in counties throughout the United States to promote county government.
One chosen student will be given the opportunity to shadow County Manager Lance Pyle during a normal business day. The chosen student will get the opportunity to attend an elected official meeting, county committee meetings, meetings with local civic leaders to hear updates on county projects and future projects, sit in on conference calls, as well as tour county facilities and construction projects. The chosen student will also accompany a Sheriff’s deputy on a call and drive county roads with the Road Superintendent. High School juniors and seniors are encouraged to participate in this program.
PROGRAM DETAILS
To be eligible, students will follow a similar procedure that all county applicants must follow when applying for employment by submitting a cover letter and filling out an application form. To locate the application, please use the link below:
2025 County Manager for a Day Application
Applications are due no later than March 28, 2025 at 5pm. Interviews will be held the week of March 31 at the Curry County Administration Complex by an interview panel consisting of elected and appointed County officials.
The date to serve as County Manager for A Day will be coordinated with the school district and students schedule.
