Curry County Launches "Hometown Heroes" Banner Program to Honor Local Veterans

The Board of Curry County Commissioners has established the Hometown Heroes Pole Banner Program to publicly honor local active-duty service members and veterans.

Custom, weather-resistant banners featuring the honoree’s uniform photo, name, and branch of service will fly for one year at the Ruben Nieves Courtyard and the 7th & Mitchell Street parking lot. At the conclusion of the 12-month display period, the banner will be returned to the applicant as a keepsake. "The Hometown Hero Banner Program is a way to honor those who have served to protect our Country and the freedoms we take for granted. Program Details:

Eligibility: Current or former Curry County residents who served or are serving in the U.S. Armed Forces.

Capacity & Cost: Space is limited to 12 banners at a time on a first-come, first-served basis. The cost is a flat fee of $175.00 for production and installation.

To participate, applicants must submit a completed form, a high-resolution uniform photo, and payment to the Curry County Administration Office. Full details and applications are available at the office or online at currycountynm.gov.
